Event Details

In her feature-length documentary Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North, filmmaker Katrina Browne discovered that her New England ancestors were the largest  slave-trading family in U.S. history. In the film, she and nine cousins retrace the Triangle Trade  and gain a powerful new perspective on the black/white divide.

About the film: “A far-reaching personal documentary examination of the slave trade … The implications of the film are devastating.” — Stephen Holden, The New York Times.

A free screening of TRACES OF THE TRADE: a story from the deep North, will be shown on Thursday, Nov. 12, at 5:30 pm at New Haven Free Public Library, 133 Elm Street. Preston Tisdale will facilitate a discussion following the film.

This event is offered in cooperation with The Amistad Committee, Inc. There is no charge, and free parking is available.
